Now Hiring: Full-time Veterinary Technician (CVT not required)

Dakin is looking to hire a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our team in the shelter and to help deliver our mission. As the only non-profit, full-service animal welfare organization serving our region, we need to help a lot of people (and their animals). You can help us do it.

Primary responsibilities include:
- Evaluating animals for disease, injury or other health issues and reporting concerns to shelter veterinarian
- Initiating treatment for sick animals based on written medical protocols
- Providing medical support and guidance to our foster care volunteers
- Reviewing and discussing medical records with clients and staff
- Providing technical assistance to our shelter veterinarian including radiology, lab work and surgical assistance/anesthesia monitoring
We are looking for applicants with prior experience working as a technician in an animal shelter or veterinary clinic. Applicants must be proficient in monitoring animals under anesthesia and be able to work independently. Clear communication, attention to detail, and ability to focus with multiple priorities is necessary.

This position requires working one weekend day. Excellent benefits including extremely generous PTO for full-time employees (like 30 days in your second year of full-time employment, 35 days in your third year)!
Sign-On Bonus!
Bilingual English/Spanish candidates who apply to Dakin will receive a $500 bonus if they are hired and after they successfully reach 90 days of employment. Bilingual candidates must be fluent in both written and verbal communication to qualify for this bonus.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working as a veterinary assistant or technician required.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior, anatomy, and common veterinary procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle and restrain animals in a gentle and confident manner.
- Proficient in basic computer skills and familiarity with veterinary software.
