Material Handler

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Materials Handler for shipping & receiving is responsible to handle incoming and outgoing shipments for Dakotaland Manufacturing. They are responsible to oversee and coordinate the moving of pallets and other products and materials by forklift operators and other material handlers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the jobs purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable.
Examine incoming and outgoing shipment contents and comparing with records, (such as manifests, invoices or orders) to verify accuracy

Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading and shipping orders to route materials

Load trucks for safe transport of DLM product

Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability and damages and discrepancies for purposes of reporting, accounting and record keeping

Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for the shipping and delivery of materials

Confer and correspond with Shipping supervisor to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications

Pull orders from warehouse racks using a log and possibly an RF scanner gun

Stage and palletize product in warehouse

Perform light Quality Control to ensure that products are going to the correct areas

Perform general cleanup and maintenance of your work area

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

High school or GED preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Previous experience staging product and operating a forklift preferred
Basic math/counting skills required
Basic computer proficiency required
Ability to lift 30-50 pounds
Inventory experience preferred
Leadership experience or capability a plus
Customer contact experience a plus
Must be on time and committed to maintaining consistent work attendance.
