Recording Clerk

This position is responsible for performing clerical and customer service duties in the recording of official documents.
  • Processes passport applications.
  • Receives and reviews documents to ensure compliance with state standards; enters information into computerized database; scans and indexes documents; proofs documents for errors.
  • Processes Department of Natural Resources transactions; registers ATVs, snowmobiles, off-road vehicles, and boats; ensures compliance with state regulations; calculates and assesses fees; issues hunting and fishing tags.
  • Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
  • Prepares documents for mailing.
  • Prepares documents for storage as appropriate.
  • Certifies documents.
  • Performs related duties.
                                                    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One to two years of experience in clerical office work, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of county and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
  • Skill in the provision of customer services.
  • Skill in the maintenance of files and records.
  • Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.
