Schedule: non-standard including evenings and weekends

Salary:

$15.50 = Operations Maintainer shifts

$18.00 = Operations Supervisor shifts

Scope of the Position:

The Dual Rate Operations Supervisor works under the direction of the Operations Manager to supervise and assist in all activities of the housekeeping staff, including the cleaning and maintenance of the public and staff areas of the museum. The Dual Rate Operations Supervisor is also responsible for efficiently setting up all DMA Operations related events, and the coordination of staff in preparation for those events that fall on the supervisor’s scheduled workday. The Dual Rate Operations Supervisor is a representation of the Operations Maintainer as well as the Operations Supervisor; on a part-time basis for each.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the housekeeping staff with maintaining restrooms, break areas, meeting rooms, and non-public areas of the museum
  • Sweeping and mopping floors; sometimes using floor care equipment
  • Cleaning horizontal and vertical surfaces including door and glass
  • Collects trash from all areas of the museum
  • Separates recyclable from non-recyclable materials
  • Disposes of recyclable trash in the appropriate collection bin
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Assigns personnel to workstations, coordinates vacation requests and submits them to Operations Manager for approval. Adjusts schedules and staff assignments due to absences as necessary
  • Performs daily inspections of all workstations, submits inspection information digitally through the Housekeeping App, and documents performance of both exceptional and below standard
  • Conducts daily briefings to ensure staff is highly motivated, well informed of changes, policies, and procedures, and performs all tasks in a manner acceptable to the Operations Manager
  • Provides staff with information and training about the proper use, and safe handling of all chemicals used in the cleaning and maintenance of the museum
  • Supervises and assists with all relevant functions in preparation of the museum’s special events; ensures the museum is safe and clean for all visitors, guests, and staff during both operational and non-operational hours
  • Assists with taking down event set up at the conclusion of the event
  • Responsible for the monitoring of special events throughout their duration to ascertain cleaning or other routine maintenance needs
  • Attends bi-weekly meetings with operations, security, OSE, and catering to discuss upcoming events

Requirements

Education, Experience, and Certification:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous supervisory experience desirable
  • Excellent computer skills a plus - Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook); experience with point-of-sale systems, data entry, and relationship databases
  • Must have at least six months of experience in housekeeping or custodial duties as well as event staging and planning
  • Must be knowledgeable in the operation and general care of all types of cleaning equipment, including automatic floor scrubbers, high-speed buffers, and any cleaning equipment
  • Requires repetitive lifting, bending, and moving of all types of furniture. Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs with assistance
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which includes weekends, some nights, and overtime
  • Ability to walk, climb stairs, and stand for up to 6-hour shift


Key Qualifications:

  • Makes reports to Operations Manager on observations of damage, defects, and needed repairs
  • Maintains and updates all SDS for daily chemical usage
  • Assists with evaluating job performance as it relates to tasks assigned and interaction with visitors, guests, and staff
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with large crowds
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, resolve problems, and set priorities
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, around event times that change; overtime may be required
  • Performs other miscellaneous work as assigned
