Scope of position: 

The Manager of Advancement Services and Donor Research has primary responsibility for developing and executing strategies to ensure the efficient use of the systems, data, and technical tools utilized for fundraising and donor research initiatives.  

The Manager will have comprehensive understanding of current donor systems, data quality, database architecture, and tools to oversee system usage, data storage, reporting capabilities, data accuracy processes, and user training and training materials. This role will support Museum-wide data integration or platform migration initiatives that involve donor information.  

In addition, the Manager will provide prospect research support to frontline fundraising staff. Prospect research functions include identifying, collecting, and analyzing prospective and existing donors using biographical, wealth, financial and philanthropic information.
 

Essential Functions: 

  • Support and implement the strategy to manage all aspects of the donor system (Raiser’s Edge) and applications (Importomatic) including security, structure, usage, reporting, functionality, ease of use, data accuracy, and user training.  
  • Support donor prospecting strategies and provide recommendations on reporting needs and methodologies, donor segmentation and ranking systems, and build detailed donor profiles.  
  • Work collaboratively across the Museum to execute all data and reporting requests timely and accurately.  
  • Manage projects to implement, integrate, or migrate other systems or applications (Raisers Edge NXT, Salesforce) that support the department as needed. 
  • Partner with the Technology department and vendors to troubleshoot issues.  
  • Ongoing monitoring of industry related developments in the fields of IT and Advancement Services, and donor research best practices across industries.  
  • Other duties as assigned  

Requirements



Education, Experience, and Certification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • 3 years database administration experience in a nonprofit environment.  
  • Experience with the following systems and databases is preferred:  
  • Advanced knowledge of Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge database or other relational database (Raisers Edge certification or similar/ related system) 
  • Blackbaud applications e.g., Importomatic 
  • Etix or other ticketing systems 
  • Salesforce or other CRM systems 
  • IWave, LexisNexis, Wealth Engine, or other donor prospecting tools or platforms 
  • Excel power user 
  • Experience with data migrations, imports/ exports, database conversions, and building reports from multiple systems.
