Camera Operator

CAMERA OPERATOR

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Camera
Operator. This role will be responsible for operating up to eight (8) robotic cameras
simultaneously during a Dallas Symphony Orchestra performance weekend and capturing
performances at a high quality level.

The selected candidate will be experienced in camera operation, framing and visual storytelling.
He/She will also be able to communicate and interpret direction from a variety of artistic
inputs.

• Program pre-sets for each of the cameras specific to that week’s concerts with the input

of the director or score consultant. (Each of the eight cameras regularly has 15-20 pre-

set shots for at least 150 possible positions each week.)

• Move cameras as called by the director or score consultant in a very fast-paced

environment.

• Fix focus as needed during performances.

• Adjust shading as needed.

• Switch according to a called shot script as well as watching for important shots.

• Work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change and impromptu direction, as

dictated by the concert performance.

• Assure that the orchestra is covered in a comprehensive manner.

The Camera Operator is a key member of the production team as he/she has the sole
responsibility of capturing footage.

Qualifications: 

At least 4 years of experience in broadcast, video and production in sports, music or live,
fast-paced events.

 Have worked on a broadcast crew for sports, music or live events in the past 2 years.
 Knowledge of state-of-the-art equipment and techniques used in producing and

directing live and taped broadcasts.

Ability to function highly in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in
productions each week

 Knowledge of classical music a plus
