Job Description (External):
The Materials Buyer will be responsible for the purchase of raw material parts in the facility. They will be the owner of executing the KANBAN ordering process on a daily basis. They will be responsible for managing supplier order placement to help maintain strong On Time Delivery to the end customer.
This position will be responsible for purchasing activities associated with raw material parts. This includes, but is not limited to, placing purchase orders for material, working with the Procurement department to mitigate risk where appropriate, and driving internal communication to identify areas of concern.
This position will drive for supplier on time delivery improvement and inventory reductions through visual and daily management practices and activities for sustained improvements.
This position will be a champion for the material process in the plant. They will promote problem solving at the point of impact, promote coaching and mentoring where gaps are identified, and promote teamwork to achieve plant metrics. Will work with supplier on initial negotiations and will act a supplier relationship liaison to support the commodity managers. The buyer will work both with the suppliers, commodity mangers, planners and all of supply chain to drive proper escalation and prioritization on supplier parts and engagement.
This position will work closely with all other materials team members in the plant to ensure effective tactical material execution in the plant along with On Time Delivery to the end customer. They will be responsible for communicating issues across the organization and working effectively to problem solve solutions.
Job Qualifications / Requirements (External):
Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
Proven experience planning and controlling inventory
Experience with material buying
Experience with supply chain and inventory management systems
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Ability to communicate effectively across teams and upwards through the organization
Detailed oriented and focused on delivering value to the factory
Manage multiple projects with high fluidity of priorities changes
Demonstrates experience and results in negotiating with suppliers
Strong Computer Skills Required
Strong analytical skills, initiative, judgment and problem solving ability
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments
Demonstrates experience and results in negotiating with suppliers
Advanced skills in Microsoft Products; including advanced-level skills in Excel
