Job Posting for Patent Analyst/Patent Agent at Danaher
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews and analyzes 3rd party patent filings and technical literature
Maintains a patent monitoring system and conducts regular meetings with the patent team to review findings
Delivers research findings in a timely and high-quality manner using tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Coordinates and partners with the R&D team to identify company inventions for patent filing
Attends R&D meetings and Patent Review Board meetings, serving as a liaison for the patent team
Assists with the filing of patents and prosecution of company inventions and work closely with outside counsel
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience (in years):
Ph.D. in one or more areas of microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology or a related life sciences field
At least 5 years of laboratory experience (including Ph.D. work)
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
2 years of postdoctoral studies in a life sciences field
Licensed as a registered Patent Agent with the USPTO
Knowledge and skills:
Strong technical skills and in-depth knowledge/experience in one or more areas of microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology or a related life sciences field
Self-motivated, highly productive, and able to clearly express complex scientific concepts in written form
Able to read, process and analyze large volumes of scientific and patent literature
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Able to work on multiple projects at one time, manage competing priorities and work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
If candidate is not already licensed to practice with the USPTO, study and pass the Patent Bar for admission to practice, becoming a Registered Patent Agent within 1 year following start date
Must be able to lift 15 lbs.Work may involve repetitive arm/wrist motions, mainly in using a computer
