GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Danbury Public Schools currently serve approximately 11,000 students across 19 school buildings. In fulfilling its mission to provide educational services, the District is required to collect, analyze, manage, and report a wide array of student related information. In addition, the District uses a variety of student data management and scheduling software platforms in order to establish appropriate and effective schedules, oversee grading, report cards, and other similar functions. Successful applicants for the Student Data Specialist for K-12 Scheduling position will engage in tasks focused on the creation, oversight, and management of school schedules, grading and attendance systems, transcript distribution, and related tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Performs all aspects of building, executing and completing master schedules, including schedule overrides and ensuring courses/staff stay within enrollment guidelines
Perform annual PowerSchool setup/configuration, including but not limited:

Term setup
- Calendar Setup
- Scheduling
- Attendance configuration
- Grading setup and storage
- Photo import
- Summer school set up and support
- Perform end of grading term activities
- Update, generate, and print report cards
- Assist with Honor Roll calculations
Completes all necessary tasks to facilitate grade and transcript distribution, including processing grade change requests
Customize data reports and web pages to comply with changing data needs
Produce reports and datasets as requested. Supports the more complex SQL reporting of the Senior Data Specialist by creating basic ad hoc reports using SQL or other tools.
Support Data Systems team in the daily use, programming, import/export of data and integrations of the district data systems used to collect, analyze and report on data
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
BA required, with concentration in a related field preferred. Demonstrated experience in working with school data systems may be considered in lieu of meeting the BA requirement.
Experience supporting PowerSchool and other similar school data systems, with demonstrated proficiency in scheduling is required. Applicants will be required to provide at least one (1) reference from a prior employer who can describe with specificity the applicants demonstrated abilities in working in comparable school data platforms.
The ability to write advanced data queries, create custom reports and manipulate data. Applicants who are invited to interview should be prepared to perform a demonstrative task in this area.
Demonstrated knowledge of Excel, Access, Word, and other database query tools. Ability to provide basic SQL support preferred.
Possess interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with and provide technical support to all levels of users
Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy when working with complex data is required.
Demonstrated ability to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive data.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The terms and conditions of employment in this position are governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Danbury Public Schools and UPSEU, a copy of which can be found on the District website, www.danbury.k12.ct.us, under the District and Human Resources tabs.
General terms of employment include a 12-month work year, 35-hours/week, with starting wages at $54,500 per year (maximum step $58,000), and access to health and welfare benefit plans as described in the collective bargaining agreement.
This position reports directly to the Director of Technology and Student Data Systems, and works in collaboration with the Administrator for Data Management, Analysis and Reporting.
