Day in the life...
Co-lead Main Event accounting team with other Accounting Director
Assist with certain aspects of the monthly close process
Enhance existing accounting policies and processes.
Align Main Event practices with D&B, and ensure they are compliant with public company requirements.
Assist Internal Audit's efforts with SOX implementation for Main Event business in 2023
Play an integral role in implementing Workday across D&B and Main Event.
Act as a thought leader and change agent for all of the accounting, systems and business changes across D&B/Main Event.
Leads accounting team in the performance of their duties including monthly close, consolidation & group reporting
Manage monthly balance sheet and income statement variance analysis
Manage, mentor & team of accountants and finance professionals
Oversee the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions
Maintain current knowledge of and coordinate ongoing compliance with current accounting standards.
Assist with coordination of external annual financial audits and proper filing of tax returns
Maintain general ledgers for accuracy and completeness in accordance with GAAP
Participate in process improvement initiatives. internal controls, system implementation
Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
Assist in the implementation of new accounting standards and the accounting for non-standard transactions as needed
Ability to flex into technical accounting areas including tax, equity and lease accounting as needed
DAY IN A LIFE CONT:
Assist the Controller in representing the accounting department in strategic cross-functional projects
Work with Financial Planning & Analysis team on Budget and variance explanations
Ensures consolidation and reporting packages are complete and accurate
Reviews monthly results with business leadership
Identifies and communicates risks to forecast to Finance team.
Manages and delivers timely corporate requests for supplemental data on business activities.
Leads special project work such as strategic business initiatives, systems development, and restructurings
Demonstrate willingness and ability to be a self-starter, taking the initiative to solve problems
50% Day-to-day accounting and managing team
25% Accounting process upgrades
25% ERP (Workday) Implementation
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, REQUIRED SKILLS
Degree in Finance or Accounting required. MBA preferred
10 years of relevant public company experience; 3-5 years of management/leadership experience
CPA required
Big 4 audit experience highly preferred
Must be proficient in Excel and Powerpoint
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
