Director of Talent Acquisition & Employee Engagement

Position Summary

Daniel O’Connell’s Sons is seeking a Director of Talent Acquisition & Employee Engagement to help define and implement organizational development strategies and initiatives, such as performance management, employee engagement, leadership development, DEI and communication.  This person is the owner of HR analytics, determining if people initiatives are impactful and meaningful to the organization.  The Director will report to the President of DOC and will lead a team of individuals who will design and implement programs to enhance employee development throughout the organization.          

Job Responsibilities

• Develops and implements a leadership development strategy, to include all levels of leadership within the organization
• Owner of the performance management process. Responsible for the redesign and implementation of the process.
• Develops and implements an employee engagement strategy. This includes capturing data, analysis of the data, and implementing initiatives to drive up engagement.
• Develops and implements a DEI strategy
• Discovers continuous improvement opportunities and takes the initiative to drive incremental change in processes and systems. Acts as a change agent.
• Designs and implements programs to support the overall people strategies for DOC.
• Designs and implements career pathing for the organization
• Sets the strategy for Talent Acquisition
• Responsible for the employment brand and the employment brand proposition. Strategically integrates it into the Talent Acquisition strategy.
• Champions, supports and facilitates cultural change initiatives by training, supporting, and directing both employees and management staff.
• Partners with other shared services, and operations teams
• Responsible for employee communications
• Occasion travel will be required to offices
• Performs other duties as needed.

Position Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field (or equivalent related experience).  Degree in IO (Industrial and Org Psychology) preferred.
• At least 7 years of organizational development / talent development experience
• HR experience in a union environment strongly preferred
• Previous HR business partner / HR generalist experience preferred.
• Experience handling highly confidential and sensitive information
• Experience conducting first-line and management training.
• Ability to interact with all levels of employees and be perceived as an approachable and knowledgeable resource.
• Knowledge in Microsoft Office application including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, MS Teams.
