POSITION TYPE: Full-Time Non-Exempt (Hourly)
RATE: $18.00 – $22.00

JOB SUMMARY

The Cutter/Tabber cuts, shapes, and trims composite shims using hand tools, belt sanders, saws and cutting tools, adjusting guides, handling trim templates and using hand-route fixtures or bench-mounted tools. The Cutter/Tabber is also responsible for scribing and sanding to conform to drawings per customer requirements; reads and interprets blueprints as well as follow established departmental policies, procedures and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety and environmental control standards.

The Cutter/Tabber directly reports to the Program Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION

Education, Training, and/or Experience

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in Composite Manufacturing/Aircraft Assembly preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Frequently required to use eye-hand coordination, fine motor skills, and manual dexterity
  • Constantly use hands to hold steady, handle, grasp, or feel
  • Frequently twist and reach to shoulder level
  • Occasionally walk, squat, kneel, use foot controls, or perform vibratory tasks
  • Regularly lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Regularly push and/or pull up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close, color, distance and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Hearing level within normal/average range
  • Work with or in the presence of hazardous chemicals, resins, and fiberglass as required (PPE provided as necessary)

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of process specifications and manufacturing plan interpretation
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow written directions including blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Ability to recall and follow oral directions
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, quality, and safety
  • Ability to use basic hand and pneumatic tools to finish parts
  • Ability to work with composite materials, fiberglass, resins, metals and wood
  • Ability to maintain technique, meet time requirements and quality standards consistently
  • Ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in the English language
  • Use of general math concepts (add, subtract, multiply, and divide), the Standard unit of measurement, and coordinating tools

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform operations using various hand and pneumatic tools including jigs, clamps, fixtures, table-routers, sanding block, drill press, band-saw, cut-off saw, angle-grinder, pin-router, calipers, scissors/knives, scrapers, and drill motors
  • Trim, drill, and countersink metal and composite details with tooling/aids
  • Perform de-burring, inspection, cleaning during machine cycle time to maximize machine usage
  • Adjust guides according to specifications
  • Report any machine malfunctions to supervisor
  • Trim, sand and finish to expected specifications/standards
  • Ensure jugs and equipment are maintained to the correct standards
  • Ensure and verify parts being manufactured are good quality and are per drawings
  • Meet schedules and time allowances for production requirements
  • Complete work with expected quality and accuracy; completing and following all documentation provided
  • Manage time and workflow through personal work area with direction
  • Maintain a safe, organized, FOD-free work area with a focus on lean principles as instructed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
