The base compensation range for this position is $40.28 and will be eligible to receive the applicable shift differential pay at $1 per hour. - Technical degree or apprenticeship
- Required certifications:
- Ammonia Technician 1, 2, 3, Ammonia Technician 1
- Boiler Level 1, 2
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate in electrical, Mechanical or related technical field.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Technical degree, associate in electrical/mechanical, or apprenticeship or experience and demonstrated abilities in below skills.
- 10 years in maintenance related Field
- Achieve and maintain required certifications.
- Certification to operate lifts and other required equipment.
- Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

- Perform precision mechanical rebuilds. Abilities to take on Field Service Tech work on Ammonia compressors. Must be able to pump down and repair ammonia valves, pumps and all associated equipment.
- Working with and implementing PSM program.
- Repair and Maintain Evapco condensers.
- Repair AC units and Freon charge.
- Maintain door and dock equipment when needed.
- Maintain plate and frame chillers utilizing glycol as cooling agent.
- Support of Glycol systems and its associated equipment.
- Industrial electrical controls support of all ammonia, boiler, air compressors and utilities equipment. This is to include Variable Frequency drives (VFD), Chart Recorders, PID loop control (4-20ma), panel view applications, Flow meters, Power supplies and PLC I/O cards and processors.
- Repair warehouse equipment (dock doors, levelers, stretch wrappers, dock locks, conveyors, large roll up doors, etc.)
- Proficient in use of Mill and Lathe machinery
- Welding as needed.
- Identify and resolve repetitive mechanical failures to include modification and design of failed parts. Recommendation of improvements both electrical and mechanical either by new part sourcing or design.
- Basic use of laptop for PLC logic.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis and problem-solving pertaining to air, steam, ammonia, glycol and any equipment pertaining to such.
- Teach advanced mechanical rebuilds on air compressors, boilers, ammonia pumps, ammonia valves, ammonia compressors, PRV valves, Control valves and any other such equipment.
- Must have professional attitude and a Team player.
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format with fully complete with all required information.
- Attend and demonstrate knowledge/learnings/application of all training.
- Perform predictive maintenance techniques on equipment to enhance uptime conditions.
- Develop/maintain skills of a SME (subject matter expert) in building systems.
- Executes preventative maintenance as scheduled and other reliability tasks, assist in diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds of machines and any other plant equipment to prevent/repair unplanned downtime/safety risks/normal operation.
- Partner with engineering or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling solutions.
- Utilize root cause analysis thought process to ensure sustainability of corrective actions and/or improvements to drive asset reliability.
- Proficient and diligent use of CMMS system to track maintenance action items.
- Classify breakdowns and analyze gaps in the entire process of design, fabrication, and maintenance of equipment.
- Utilize the continuous improvement mindset and tools to actively participate in identifying and correcting opportunities, improving processes including participation in the creation and documentation of standards, the writing of One Point Lessons, and participation in continuous improvement methodology events.
- Follow QMS, GMPs, and 5s methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area, maintaining audit ready status at all times.
- Adhere to all Pillar Standards and actively participate in Pillar activities including but not limited to assessments, observations, inspections, and recommendations.
- Communicates effectively with all internal and external associates and vendors.
- Supports plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goals.
- Facilitate, attend and participate in team meetings and programs.
- Demonstrate abilities to perform precise Top-Level mechanical rebuilds.
- Must be able to perform Technical rebuild using manuals, drawings, digital videos, SOPs WITHOUT assistance.
- Mill and Lathe knowledge with demonstrated abilities on equipment.
- Work with Field Service techs to learn technical rebuilds for purpose of training other technicians.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must achieve composite score of 185 or above, with a minimum score of 75 for refrigeration on Danone Maintenance Entrance Testing modules.
- Must have either Garden City or RETA OPERATOR 1 or equivalent certification; Operator 2 is a plus.
- Ability to achieve CIRO certification within 3 years.
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test (will require no beard).
- Understanding and capability to meet PSM program requirements.
- Proficiency in MS office and basic PC skills

- Ability to perform complex mechanical repairs to ammonia compressors, air compressors, condensers, air handling equipment, boilers, gas systems and all associated steam and air valves and pumps. Strong understanding of the use of proper tools.
- Can interpret procedures detailed in manual and perform work to help eliminate the need for
- OEM Field service techs.
- Advanced understanding of sensors and instrumentation such as photo-eye’s, proximity switches, pressure, flow, level and temperature sensors.
- Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot, replace, and configure sensors and instrumentation such as photo-eye’s, proximity switches, pressure, flow, level and temperature sensors.
- Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot, configure, and replace like-for like motor control components such as starters, soft-starters, VFD’s, and Servos.
- Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot, configure, and replace like-for-like controls hardware, such as input/output modules, human machine interfaces (HMI’s), chart recorders, safety relays, and other industrial controls.
- Advanced electrical knowledge and understanding of electrical safety (NFPA 70E).
- Able to work on multiple voltages (DC/AC) up to 480V and use appropriate electrical meters and tools required for the task at hand.
- Advanced working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and interpret Allen-Bradley PLC programs to understand how the machine functions and be able to make recommendations and/or identify the root cause of any issues.
- Ability to read and interpret Domestic and European P&ID drawings, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical schematics for use in system understanding and troubleshooting.
- Mechanical/millwright skills
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings for use and application of system understanding, knowledge, and troubleshooting.
- Interpret and execute detailed mechanical instructions.
- Effectively leverage CMMS (MVP) work order system use for PM and storeroom functionality.
