Short Intro and About the Job

Operates all equipment on all our product mixing/batching lines and ensures that all products are produced with the highest quality possible and running properly and efficiently. Additionally, ensure cleanliness of equipment. Follows all safety procedures as stated in GMP, safety standards, plant rules, food safety, batch reports, and code of ethics. This person will be required to work safely in the production environment. Run and maintain mixers and other related equipment. Be able to effectively work in a team environment and communicate (verbal and written) with people on a professional level. Contributes to overall department production goals, maintains a clean and safe work environment.  This role is onsite. The hourly rate is $22.75 per Hr.  

About You

  • Ensure all documentation (written or electronic) is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format and completed with all required information
  • Effectively tear down, set-up, monitor, operate, changeover and clean applicable equipment and provide quality inspections on all related items to include but not limited to operational checks, weight checks, compliance with product specs, etc.
  • Ensure clean and inspect standards are up to date and completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure equipment and lubrication standards are up to date and completed in a timely fashion, and documented properly
  • Maintain working knowledge of all value stream equipment to include all support equipment, ability to troubleshoot, tighten, make minor adjustments, change overs, and repairs using basic tools
  • Completes PM’s and other routine operator maintenance tasks; assist in diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds of machines; partner with maintenance or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling.
  • Monitor equipment for malfunctions and defects, repairing and solving minor problems without assistance and eliminating potential threats to production through maintaining equipment.
  • Communicate effectively and partner with supervisors and maintenance personnel regarding recurring problems and needs for repair
  • Take part in PM’s and utilize the Root Cause thought process to ensure corrective actions are sustainable
  • Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, actively participate in identifying and correcting opportunities to improve processes including participation in the creation and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, the creation and maintenance of preventative maintenance standards, the writing of One Point Lessons, and participation in continuous improvement methodology events
  • Ability to follow recipes, BOMs, batch reports, and other operational processes accurately and efficiently, and document (written or electronic) as necessary
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area, maintaining audit ready status at all times
  • Actively participate in Pillar activities (i.e. Quality, Food Safety, Focused Improvement, Safety, etc.) including but not limited to observations, inspections, and recommendations.
  • Works diligently to achieve line efficiency goals
  • Assist, train, and coach employees
  • Supports plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goals
  • Facilitate, attend, and participate in team meetings and programs
  • Comply with all policies and procedures
  • All other duties as assigned or become evident

Preferred Candidate Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • 1 – 3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education that would provide the level of knowledge, skill and ability required is acceptable

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

      Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Knowledge of SAP, Redzone
  • Knows all the safety rules, plant rules, GMP, and code of ethics and follows them strictly at all time
  • Knowledge of risk of cross-contamination, basic chemical properties, and specific information of allergens in plant

 

Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, schedules, ingredients, recipes, safety procedures, emergency procedures, chemicals labels, graphs, charts, reports, and computer monitors
  • Ability to effectively communicate specific information using verbal and simple hand signals to team members, leads, customers, supervisors, and state officials in a noisy environment
  • Ability to read, and interpret data from charts, graphs, and instruments, and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to identify any digressions
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to use calculator to solve basic formulas
  • Ability to be very precise when measuring raw materials

  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to work with others, to complete regulatory duties
  • Ability to multi-task and time-manage themselves
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

  • Able to think quickly on their feet, especially in emergency situations
  • Ability to add and complete work from other processors as needed

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Forklift OSHA certification on stand-up forklift

 

NON-ESSENTIAL:

Materials and Equipment Directly Used:

  • Cleaning products including: colored mops, colored buckets, water and air hoses, squeegees, dustpans, and colored brushes.
  • Plant machinery including: touch-screen computers, tablets, etc.
  • Miscellaneous equipment including: Wrenches, small tools.
  • Safety equipment including: smocks, bump caps, sanitary and safety gloves, safety glasses, face guard, hair net, gloves and ear plugs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The floor can be wet and slippery with spills, cleaning solutions, and water. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The work environment is satiated with a multitude of smells. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is loud because of the many high-speed motors.
