Quality, efficiency, and safety all play a big role in our work at Danone. Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for the Supply Chain team. We are currently looking to hire a Supply Planner based in Boise, ID!
The role of a Supply Planner is multifaceted and critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our supply chain. As a Supply Planner, you collaborate closely with various internal and external parties. Your primary objective is to create production plans that align with the overall supply strategy, considering factors such as production capacity and raw material availability.
Supply Planners act as a bridge between various stakeholders. You will engage with internal teams—such as production, logistics, and quality control—to ensure seamless execution of the supply plan. Simultaneously, you collaborate with external partners, including suppliers and contract manufacturers, to maintain a steady flow of materials and finished goods.
Reporting functionally to the Supply Planning Manager, you play a pivotal role in achieving operational excellence. Your ability to navigate complex supply chain dynamics, anticipate bottlenecks, and proactively address challenges directly impacts the organization’s overall performance.
The base compensation range for this position is $73,000 -$90,000 commensurate with experience. Main functional relations
Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, R&I, Brand, PMO, 3PMs, 3PLs, external suppliers and vendors.
Responsibilities
- Regularly review and maintain finished goods inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet customer demand. Escalate any significant impacts or deviations from expected inventory levels to relevant stakeholders.
- Authorize production orders and/or purchase orders, coordinating with third-party manufacturers (3PMs) and vendors. Effectively communicate order details to 3PMs and vendors, ensuring timely execution.
- Review manufacturer’s production schedules, identifying errors or changes. Update internal data systems promptly based on schedule adjustments to maintain accuracy.
- Collaborate with Material Planners to receive updates on material availability and any needed schedule changes.
- Create comprehensive production plan forecasts, considering demand, lead times, and capacity constraints. Communicate production plans effectively to all relevant parties and proactively address any capacity challenges.
- Manage products throughout their entire lifecycle, from launching new items to discontinuations, working to secure fulfillment while reducing waste.
- Assist Supply Planning Manager with new item risk assessments.
- Review and approve BOM changes, ensuring accurate representation of product components and communicate BOM updates as needed.
- Actively track and communicate key performance indicators related to supplier performance. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain high standards of performance.
- Review error reports and lead efforts to resolve any supply chain issues promptly.
- Assist with related projects as needed and approve invoices related to planning activities.
- Support the training of new employees or assist with any shifts in responsibilities within the planning team.
Performance Criteria
- Building effective internal/external networks and working relations.
- Execute the supply plan to maintain fulfillment with limited write-offs and inventory carry.
- Manage projects to budget.
About You
Profile & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or other business field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a Supply Chain function, preferably in the consumer-packaged goods industry.
- Resourceful and collaborative team player.
- Self-finisher and independent, able to work autonomously and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail and process oriented, organized work ethic.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Excel.
- Experience using ERP systems (SAP & APO) strongly preferred.
- Project management skills.
- Ability to organize complex situations into manageable tasks while achieving predefined goals and objectives.
- APICS or other Supply Chain skill certifications certification a plus.
