Field Buyer & Expeditor Position
Job Description
Provide procurement & expediting support to Gulf of Mexico (GOM) Production Operations teams. Coordinate and execute field purchasing and contracting, acting as liaison between Production Operations field personnel, GOM Supply Chain Management (SCM) Category Managers, HSE, Shorebase logistics, and suppliers to ensure accurate and timely order and delivery of goods and services to Company locations. Proactively communicate with suppliers to obtain critical documentation and verify progress to ensure delivery and other order milestones are met. Assist GOM SCM Category Managers with special projects as needed, including RF(x) packages and awards, strategic sourcing initiatives, analytics/reporting, and vendor management.
Roles & Responsibilities
Procurement
- Manage GOM Production Operations field Procure-to-Pay process, from approved requisition (REQ) to Purchase Order (PO) close-out in Company’s ERP system
- Interface with GOM SCM Category Managers to ensure Company’s AVL is properly leveraged, utilizing bidding, direct negotiation, sole sourcing, and other methods as appropriate to procure and contract technically acceptable lowest cost materials and services, and documenting business justification for award in Company ERP system
- Collaborate with Supply Chain Category Managers, HSE, Legal, and Accounting, to ensure selected suppliers are properly approved for scope of work prior to PO award
- Negotiate PO Terms & Conditions with suppliers, including commercial considerations such as price, lead-time, and payment terms, ensuring all agreed-upon terms are properly documented and approved
- Communicate with field personnel, planners, engineering, and suppliers to ensure critical documentation and delivery requirements are accurate and properly documented
- Monitor and manage open PO’s, interfacing with field personnel, Accounting, and Supplier to ensure timely invoice processing, PO close-out, and reporting
- Assist field operations with proper requisition set-up for purchasing and coding of materials/services
- Support SCM Category Manager with SRM functions, including field visits and meetings with key suppliers to maintain good working relationships
Expediting
- Establish formal and informal communications with key suppliers to enable timely, accurate and forward-looking analysis of supplier's progress in meeting delivery schedules of supplier data, manufacturing milestones, raw material deliveries, testing activities and material and equipment delivery
- Action, track, and file pertinent communications to and from supplier, ensuring critical documentation is verified, received, and attached to PO in Company’s ERP system
- Provide pertinent information to SCM Category Managers to assist in preparation of supplier evaluation program(s)
- Compile and submit weekly expeditor reports as required by Supply Chain Manager and field personnel, including REQ & PO reports by project, asset, requestor, and delivery date
- May travel to suppliers' locations and fabrication shops to verify progress and expedite delivery of required goods and services to meet Company goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or 7-10 years of related work experience in purchasing and materials management
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office, SAP, and other ERP systems
- Experienced contract negotiator, with acute attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and coordinate with various team members and stakeholders
- Ability to work in both an office and warehouse/yard/field environment
- Able to travel domestically, approximately 10%
