Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist will oversee and execute the organization’s payroll, time and attendance, and reporting functions; ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with all applicable government regulations. This role will also support, maintain, and assist with implementation of the organization’s HRIS applications and modules.

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:
· Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, and other information.
· Ensures proper processing of payroll for wages and deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
· Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
· Ensures timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
· Ensures accurate and timely processing of pay profile updates.
· Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
· Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
· Identifies and recommends improvements to payroll processing procedures.
· Oversees and maintains optimal function of the HRIS, which may include implementation, customization, maintenance, and upgrades to applications, systems, and modules.
· Provides technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HRIS users.
· Manages permissions, access, personalization, and similar system operations and settings for HRIS users.
· Creates and/or assists with the acquisition of complex data reports, summaries, and analytics.
· Serves as representative and liaison between HR, information services, external vendors, and other stakeholders for HRIS design and implementation projects.
· Ensures system compliance with data security and privacy requirements.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Payroll Specialist Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
· Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
· International payroll experience preferred.
· Thorough understanding and experience of all areas of information systems.
· Thorough knowledge and experience with ADP Workforce Now required.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and technical support skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· At least five years of related experience required.
· SHRM-CP or PHR a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
