JOB SUMMARY
Tucson Program Director
As part of an interdisciplinary team, Program Directors provide administrative oversight to their respective programs to ensure that services delivered to Danville clients maintain a high quality of life, to have joy, relationships, and celebration in their lives, and to be as independent as possible. Program Directors are responsible to meet and/or exceed all standards necessary to remain in compliance with Danville, federal, and state regulations.
- In compliance with Danville, federal, state and local laws and regulations, responsible to ensure that programs are managed in a manner that assists clients in achieving their desired quality of life, and that ensures clients’ total care needs are met. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Acting as a liaison between Danville and all parties involved in clients’ lives including, but not limited to, parents, guardians, support coordinators, and medical professionals
- Participating in the creation of, and implementing, a comprehensive budget for each program in a way that maximizes productivity and is cost effective
- Being available for house managers and direct support professionals to assist in day to day operations and emergency situations
- Maintain a high level of availability by carrying a Danville issued cell phone, being on-call, and responding as needed
- Approving and making program purchases in accordance with the Regional Director
- Frequently visiting programs and performing on-site QA checks, reviewing internal and state QA reviews, and ensuring all corrections are completed
- Develop meaningful relationships with clients, and making recommendations to improve their quality of life
- Does not engage in activities other than official business during work hours
- Treat clients and others with dignity and respect, provide clients opportunities to build relationships with family and friends, and have joy and celebration in their lives
- Ensuring each program meets or exceeds state licensing standards
- Work in concert with house managers to ensure clients’ annual support plan meetings are scheduled, assisting in the creation of their individualized plans, and ensuring that all required assessments are completed during the annual plan process
- Ensure that house managers and DSP’s have an understanding of clients’ goals, that they demonstrate competency in working with clients on their goals, that they are familiar with clients’ Behavior Treatment Plans, and are using approved behavioral strategies
- Being familiar with clients’ bank accounts, reviewing/approving all significant purchases,
- Maintain a high degree of contact with the program and community nurse as appropriate
- Being familiar with clients’ medical conditions and diagnoses, and, when necessary, attending clients’ medical or psychiatric appointments
- Facilitate or conduct the investigation of all allegations of abuse, neglect, exploitation or mal-treatment, and follow Danville and state notification and investigation requirements
- Provide coverage or fill in for vacant house manager or DSP positions as needed or requested in order to maintain the continuity of programs and services for clients/staff
- Work as direct support as required to meet the needs of the clients
- Address any complaints/grievances that may surface in a program per state and Danville requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent, and 2-4 years’ experience in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities, or Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Two years supervisory experience preferred
Quality assurance and employee training experience preferred
Additional Requirements
Must be 23 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license, an insurable driving record, reliable vehicle, and current registration and insurance that meets Danville driving requirements
Required to pass the AZ Central Registry background check upon hire
AZ Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance
Must pass E-Verify verification upon hire
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Quicken
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
Good interpersonal communication skills
Ability to resolve multiple complex issues simultaneously while remaining calm in stressful situations
Good organization skills
Ability to work under strict deadlines
Special Skills/Training/Certifications
Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification
Current TB test, Article 9, Prevention & Support

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
1. Physical Requirements – Requires repetitive manual and finger dexterity and eye- hand coordination; requires the ability to use all office equipment; and the ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds using appropriate body mechanics. Must be able to remain awake and alert for the duration of each shift. Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, sit, and walk for periods of time. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics while assisting with the transfer of individuals weighing up to 250 pounds utilizing manual or mechanical lifting devices.
2. Visual, hearing, and communication requirements – Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with all staff, other professionals, and clients. Must be able to give and receive verbal and written instructions in English.
3. Work location – Home-like and office settings with varying degrees of background noise. The possibility of exposure to blood borne pathogens exists if universal precautions are not followed. May require working under stressful conditions at times and handling emergencies. There will be pressure at times to meet scheduled appointments and deadlines and manage crisis situations. This position will interact with consumers who are intellectually and developmentally delayed and may be frail or confused and have the potential for verbal or physical aggression.
