Patent Paralegal/Legal Assistant
About the job
We currently have an opening for a patent paralegal that will be a part of a team that provides operational support to the in-house legal department of our major automotive client. The position will primarily be based at our office in Northville, Michigan with the opportunity to be hybrid.
Responsibilities
Ensure all new patent application filings and patent prosecution activities are accurately and timely entered into patent management software in accordance with U.S. and foreign patent law and procedures
Compile patent application documents/information and communicate with various stakeholders
Generate various patent portfolio reports
Update and track budget projection and reimbursement reports for the patent legal team
Manage patent incentive awards program for inventors
Compile information for annuity payment decisions and communicate with annuity payment service vendor
Basic Qualifications/Required Skills
General Knowledge of intellectual property, including rules/regulations in both the U.S. and foreign jurisdictions
Ability to successfully communicate with other team members, business stakeholders, and outside counsel
Ability to handle highly confidential information professionally and with discretion
Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and MS office suite, including Excel
Detail oriented
Ability to work well with others
Ability to adapt to new procedures
Preferred Experience
At least 2 years’ experience supporting patent professionals in an in-house legal department or law firm
Certificate or degree in paralegal studies
Familiarity with Anaqua patent management system
