Position Purpose
As a collaborative member of the research team, provides support to data management and cancer surveillance staff.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Experience with medical terminology preferred but not required
Education
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in health sciences, or equivalent combination of education & experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well as a member of a team comprising individuals from a wide range of disciplines
- Ability to maintain highest standard of discretion, confidentiality, tact and diplomacy
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to remain organized and focused with frequent interruptions
- Meticulous attention to accuracy and detail
- Ability to take initiative when opportunities arise
- Computer and software proficiency (including Word and Excel)
- Ability to learn new software
- General understanding of medical terminology

Key Accountabilities
Key Accountabilities
Research Support – 10%
- Assists the staff of the New Hampshire State Cancer Registry with assigned tasks for the implementation of a large-scale disease surveillance
- Documents and implements administrative operating procedures
Communication – 10%
- Answers inquiries about reporting facilities and physician practices
Data Collection/Preparation/Management – 80%
- Performs data entry; transfers data from paper questionnaires into a computer database
- Verify accuracy of data entered and correct any errors
- Shredding, copying, filing, participate in mailing of letters to cancer reporters
- Organizes and maintains complex and confidential administrative files
- Assists in development and management of research databases and/or reference libraries
- Adheres to strict confidentiality and data protection requirements
