Purpose:
The Shipping supervisor is critical in supporting the Shipping Manger and the department in making sure that the team runs smoothly and DASI achieves its promise to its customers. Processing shipment orders, monitoring the packaging, labelling and quality of completed orders. Working with our Sales support, customer service and repairs team to make sure orders are sent out timely. Evaluating the department and any issues with carriers.
Key accountabilities:
- Direct the flow of packages from preparation to shipment. Managing shipping lines for optimum output.
- Processing shipment documentation and inspecting completed orders.
- Creating and implementing shipping policies and procedures.
- Collaborating with internal departments to optimize the flow of orders from preparation to shipment.
- Evaluating carrier performance and resolving issues with orders and logistics. Acting as liaison between customers, carriers and the business.
- Supporting the team with special exceptions and issues.
- Support the team and Repairs department with Repair orders shipping
- Able to manage Hazmat items and have them packed and shipped according to compliance regulations
- Complying to shipping industry regulations and company policies
- Provide support for the Shipping Manager and collaboration with the Pre-Expedite team and other team members.
- Support, motivate and coach a team of high performing employees who will be aware of and work toward achieving key performance indicators that measure the effectiveness of our warehouse’s operations.

Experience and qualifications
- Experience with customs clearance, import/export requirements, and import tax/duty disputes is a plus, specifically with Export controlled items under ECCN 7A103
- Experience processing/assisting hazardous materials shipments in compliance with IATA regulations for air transport.
- Hazmat Training preferred
- Forklift Certified preferred
- Proficiency in electronic shipping software such as Fedex, UPS and DHL
- Proficiency in filing EEI (Electronic Export Information) through the AES (Automated Export System) as required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-3 years of Shipping experience.
- Experience with 5S principles and methodology is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Can tolerate an environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust and work around moving equipment.
- Able to operate warehouse vehicles and material handling equipment
- Can continuously lift up to 75 pounds at times
