Emerald EMS is an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers, focusing on high-reliability electronic assemblies. With design and manufacturing facilities in California, Michigan, and New Hampshire, as well as in Shenzhen, China, Emerald EMS specializes in high mix, low- to medium-volume manufacturing for high-reliability markets in the Aerospace/Defense, Industrial Controls, Life Sciences, Power & Infrastructure, Semiconductor and Telecommunications sectors. The Director, Strategic Accounts is responsible for the Emerald “Customer Experience” for one or more specific customer accounts. This person is responsible for the development and execution of the Account Strategy.  

In this role, you will coordinate with the Program Management & Executive Teams to drive growth and financial performance of the business unit. This includes establishing and managing a long-term strategic partnership between EMERALD and the customer(s) that delivers the growth and profit objectives, defining and expanding Emerald’s value proposition, and understanding the customer’s own strategic objectives.  The leader drives how Emerald contributes to success in those areas, ensuring customer satisfaction, understanding the competitive environment, and mapping all key stakeholders and ensuring relationships are created and maintained with each of them. Requires the use of sales force automation tools such as Insightly (CRM) and sales/account management to plan, track and report status and progress.


Responsibilities of the Director of Strategic Accounts:


  • Owns the creation of a growth strategy for their account(s) with an overall objective of 30% year-on-year improvement in
  • Value Added Revenue allied to an improving Net Core Operating Income percentage (i.e. NCOI/Revenue expressed as a
  • percentage figure).
  • Owns the creation, review and approval of all contract/commercial documents and agreements governing business between EmeraldEMS and their customer(s).
  • Owns the business development aspects of executing the account plan and advancing the relationship with the customer(s).
  • Responsible for developing the funnel to target and executing the sales process and updating the sales funnel.
  • Responsible for opportunity management which includes the development and execution of the ‘Opportunity Strategy” and the development and testing of the “Value Proposition”.

Qualifications of the Director of Strategic Accounts:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university.
  • 10 years related experience in strategic customer management.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of production and inventory control, material and capacity requirements planning and master planning.
  • Experience in managing customer revenue growth and commercial management/execution.
  • 30% domestic travel required.
