Position Summary:
The Accountant position at Data-Tech manages all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets. Accountant responsibilities include auditing financial documents and procedures, reconciling bank statements and calculating tax payments and returns. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping and a flair for spotting numerical mistakes. Ultimately, you will provide us with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of our business, while ensuring we’re compliant with all tax regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage all accounting transactions
- General AR/AP functions
- Prepare budget forecasts
- Publish financial statements in time
- Generating client invoices
- Applying payments on client accounts
- Preparing and verifying deposits
- Reviewing invoices, work orders, and other documents to identify any discrepancies
- Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Ensure timely bank payments
- Compute taxes and prepare tax returns
- Manage balance sheets and profit/loss statements
- Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity
- Audit financial transactions and documents
- Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
- Comply with financial policies and regulations
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required:

- Must be proficient with QuickBooks and have a basic understanding of GAAP and standard accounting functions
- Moderate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel required
- Understanding of AR/AP
- Accuracy with Data Entry and 10 key capabilities
- Ability to effectively communicate via phone, email, and face to face conversations
- Requires strong typing and bookkeeping skills - 100% ACCURACY IS A MUST
- Ability to build positive and collaborative relationships with others
- Ability to routinely multi-task, reassign priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Has impeccable attention to detail and ask questions if information needed is not available
- Willingness and commitment to ongoing learning and professional development
- Strong customer service and employee relationship skills
- Have reliable means of transportation and communication
- A clean 7-year criminal background check is a requirement for employment at Data-Tech
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
Education and Experience:
- At least 2-3 years' experience in an accounting role
- At least 2 years' of hands-on experience with QuickBooks
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables
- Experience with general ledger functions
- BSc in Accounting, Finance or relevant degree preferred, but not required
- Additional certification (CPA or CMA) preferred, but not required
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Must possess the mobility to work in a standard office setting (on site or off), and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, concentration to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and/ or over the telephone. Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to drive a motorized vehicle.
