Position Summary:
As a Senior Software Manager for our desktop software, you have a history of building high-performing teams, designing, owning and shipping software, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills.
You have a deep understanding of desktop software architectures and software development lifecycle. You have a passion for secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable code. As a successful Senior Software Manager, you can ramp up quickly on new technologies and adopt solutions from within the company or from the Open-Source community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role you will/have:
- Be a manager, mentor, and leader of the group and broader organization.
- You will manage a group that are maintaining current-generation desktop apps and building next-generation capabilities.
- Be a key contributor to software architecture decisions on new products for both R&D and product development.
- Responsible to balance efforts spent on new features, software maintenance and refactoring of older code
- product vision and the ability to plan and design various features in stages to reach the end goal in an evolutionary way is critical.
- Be customer obsessed. Understanding and anticipating the needs of our customers in a changing business and technology landscape is critical.
- Work closely with product managers and R&D teams to guarantee the delivery of new algorithms, features, for current and next generation Spectrophotometers
- Be fully responsible for hiring, growing, and retaining great talent.
- Be a great engineer.
- You will be accountable for the design, implementation, schedule, and delivery, of your team and services.
- Doing this in an efficient, maintainable way with emphasis on reliability and product performance as the top concern is a must.
Experience & Qualifications:
You have:
- 10 years of Software Engineering experience with track record of driving multiple products/versions from inception to delivery.
- BS or MS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering OR equivalent years of relevant work experience.
- 5 years of hands-on experience managing people in a product development environment.
- Proficient in C , C#, or similar Object-Oriented languages.
- Experience in building, shipping, optimizing, and operating reliable, scalable, secure, industrial software.
- Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
- Experience with .NET, Azure Cloud, Azure Service Fabric, Kubernetes or similar is a plus.
- Ability to work with remote teams and mentor new developers to the team.
- Ability to appreciate complex problems with a thorough design and collaborate with multiple partners on common goals.
- Professional experience writing visually appealing customer-facing features.
- Experience engaging with product management and customers to determine requirements and iterate on existing features.
- Comfortable managing risk and making meaningful decisions for your organization
- Track record of managing teams who develop a high volume of new features
- Strong problem-solving & debugging skills.
- Fluent in spoken and written English
