Data Warehouse Analyst (Teradata ETL & BA)

Required Skills/Experience:

• 5 years’ experience working as a Data Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or Business Analyst experience in a Data Warehouse project environment
  
• 5 years’ experience working with end users/customers to understand system and business issues and perform technical analysis to understand and develop requirements and solutions
  
• 5 years’ experience with SQL; Teradata SQL Assistant, MS SQL Server including:
  o Understanding of data warehousing definition concepts like
  • Tables, Views
  • Stored procedures and macros
  o Experience using Teradata Utilities such as
  • MLOAD
  • BTQ
  • SQLA
  o Experience where there is involvement in working with any database related languages like SQL and their equivalent concepts like
  • Indexing
  • Joins
  • Sub queries
  • Volatile/temp tables
  o Experience in maneuvering existing lines of complex SQL code in identifying an issue reported by non-technical/technical users
  o Understanding of data in the terms of space and size and usage of the tables
  o Understanding of Datatypes related to the tables like Char, timestamps, etc.
  o Ability to understand and modify existing Views and their definitions to align and satisfy business requirements
  o Involvement in processes that involve batch jobs
  
• Experience in teams that support applications that have their source as a Data warehouse.
  
• Understanding of data visualization-reporting tools
  
• 3 years’ experience developing test data and test scenarios
  
• Ability to facilitate customer requirements gathering meetings/sessions
  
• Must be able to work independently and not rely on State or other team members
• Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with programmers, analysts, immediate supervisor, management, system users, operations, other State agencies and the private sector.

Preferred but not Required Skills/Experience:

• Experience with leading project work, providing direction for team members
  
• Experience with Data Modeling/Database Design
  
• Experience with Court applications or relevant court experience
  
• Experience with JAD and Agile IT Development methodologies
  
• Ability to clearly communicate with users for clarification and elaboration as may be necessary to clearly define a problem and conceptualize a development plan.
  
• Recognize, gather, correlate, and analyze facts, draw conclusions, define problems, and devise solutions and alternatives and make appropriate recommendations.
  
• Working with developers, facilitate modification of the logical design to create a physical design most suited to the reporting needs of the customer.
  
• Ability to design applications taking into consideration data reconciliation, (to the source system) query/reporting performance, and analytical business value.
