Duties & Responsibilities:

Minimum Salary: $94,718, dependent upon years of experience
 
  • Develop and facilitate training materials to provide leaders, teachers, and staff with meaningful learning opportunities in the following areas:
    • Social Emotional Behavioral Health (SEBH)
    • Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS)
    • Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
    • Check & Connect
    • Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI)
    • Trauma-Responsive Pedagogy
    • Restorative Practices
    • Culturally and Linguistically Pedagogy
  • Organize, coordinate, and provide training on MTSS for SEBH as outlined by district resource map.
    • Universal practices
    • Targeted interventions
    • Intensified interventions
  • Assist in the coordination of efforts of TLCS Equity and Learning Supports Innovators.
    • Ensure Innovators are proficient in aforementioned areas.
    • Support Innovators in learning and implementing effective coaching strategies.
    • Facilitate and coordinate the creation of training materials to be used by district staff, including new teacher professional learning.
  • Support at-risk program design and implementation to increase our continuum of services, including drop out prevention
  • Meet regularly with the Equity and Learning Supports Program Director and Director of Equity and Learning supports to align work and allocate resources
  • Support social workers and School Based Therapists at the direction of the Program Director
  • Collaborate as a member of the District Crisis Response Violence Prevention (CRVP) Team, Bully Prevention Team, and Attendance Team, SEBH Implementation Team & Learning Supports Team
  • Coordinate CPI trainings for DCSD
  • Serve and coordinate support for Building Student Achievement Teams (BSATs) and Student Intervention Teams (SIT) and assist in actualizing the work of SEBH MTSS
  • Collaborate with others on the utilization of the Continuous Improvement Model to strategically gather data, analyze, set priorities, implement improvement, and be held accountable for the results, with a focus on disproportionality, equity, and closing gaps in opportunities and outcomes for students.
  • Serve as District 504 coordinator
    • Ensure district compliance with section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Education Act (ADA)
    • Provide guidance and support to school staff engaged in the determination and provision of 504 services for students with disabilities.
    • Ensure parents of students pursuing or receiving services through a 504 plan are informed of their rights as defined in section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
    • Investigate and resolve identification and placement disputes in accordance with state and local policy, seeking assistance from AEA mediation team as needed.
    • Ensure the student information system accurately reflects the number of students on 504 plans in the district.
    • Attend professional growth sessions for the purpose of keeping his/her professional knowledge current with changing laws and regulations.
  • Assist with Board Meeting presentations, as requested.
  • Performs related work as required

Endorsement Required:
  • Iowa Teaching License

  • Leadership experience preferred
  • SEBH MTSS experience
  • Student centered problem solver
  • Curriculum adoption and implementation
  • Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students and their families.
  • Good attendance and punctuality
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be willing to support and implement Davenport’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
  • Must be willing to be trained in other district designated priority areas.
  • Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential

Physical Requirements of Position:
  • Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties. 
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
  • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
  • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
  • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
