    Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)

    • Establish and maintain high standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a structured, positive learning environment in the classroom and building, implementing Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports and CHAMPS strategies for all students.
    • Provides an environment that supports student achievement.
    • Develop current collection of books, periodicals, visual, auditory, computerized, and professional resources.
    • Work collaboratively with staff to support them in the planning and usage of Media to enhance classroom instruction.
    • Provide applicable instruction to students that support District Curriculum and Best Practice using the 21st Century Skills.
    • Maintains and inventories technology throughout the building (ex. computers, overheads, bulbs, printer cartridges, headphones, etc.)
    • Implements duties as established in the District Media Specialist (Teacher Librarian) job description as appropriate with school vision.
    • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point)
    • Ability to learn and work with Destiny software.
    • Ability to troubleshoot computer technical issues in accordance with LIS policy.
    • Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population.
    • Willingness to participate in Collaborative Teacher Team process.
    • Willingness to make accommodations and differentiate instruction for students in the classroom and in the library.
    • Willingness to communicate with parents on a regular basis.
    • Participation in the curriculum development process at both the building and district level to ensure that the curricula include the full range of Literacy skills including technology integration and applicable skills to the 21st Century.
    • Responsible for purchasing materials that support all grade level curriculums.
    • Other duties as assigned by Administration.
    • Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
    • Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
    • Must be willing to support and implement Davenport’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
    • Be an active participant in building level professional development focused on MTSS, Character Strong, CHAMPS, PBIS, Collaborative Teacher Teams, effective interventions, and incorporate strategies in the classroom.

    • Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
    • Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
    • Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.
