The Art Department at Davidson College is seeking Administrative and Event Coordinator to perform a variety of complex tasks that support faculty, staff and students in the department. Reporting to the Chair, the Art Department Administrative Coordinator and Event Planner oversees the department's administrative and event management functions. The coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituents.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
-Business Administration: Manage daily operations, track annual budgets, grants, endowed funds, and special programs. Assist faculty with course schedules, catalog editing, faculty searches, capital purchases, and departmental coordination needs, including assessments and faculty tenure reviews.
-Event Planning and Coordination: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of department events, ensuring alignment with the department's objectives and College's standards.
-Academic Support and Records: Serve as the primary contact for departmental communications, orient new faculty to policies, and handle academic records.
-VAC Facilities Management: Collaborate with the Chair and Director of the Art Galleries, and manage the operations of the Visual Arts Center (VAC) facilities.
-Student Worker Oversight: Supervise and direct student workers, ensuring efficient workflow within the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
-An Associate's Degree, a comparable vocational diploma, or a minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience in a relevant field.
-Demonstrated competency in organization, project management, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and problem-solving.
-Experience with accounting and budget management.
-Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel), Google Suite, and Zoom.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree.
-1-3 years of experience working in a higher education environment.
-Demonstrated resilience and adaptability in challenging situations and a willingness to continuously learn and adapt, indicative of a growth mindset.
-Willingness to work flexible hours to coordinate critical events that you plan.
