Davidson College is seeking an Executive Director for the Center for Student Health & Well-Being. This is a new position that will promote the further integration of center resources and services and partner with colleagues in Student Life and across campus to help build – and work toward – a shared vision for student holistic health. Some new positions have been recently created and new staff will be joining the center team too, making this an exciting time to join a forward-looking, committed team. The Executive Director will report to the Vice President for Student Life.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to the Center for Student Health & Well-Being, including the supervision of the Director of Counseling, Associate Director and Chief Nursing Officer, Dietician, Health Educator, and administrative staff. Serve as a key point of contact for Atrium Health partners.
- Support the Center staff in completing strategic goals and other important priorities, such as the implementation of a stepped care model, the further integration of Center services, the development of groups, and the onboarding of new staff.
- Develop, administer, and assess the goals, policies, procedures, and activities of the Center for Student Health & Well-Being to effectively meet the needs of students at a residential liberal arts college.
- In collaboration with the Center staff and Vice President for Student Life, identify short-term and long-term priorities and strategic goals for the Center, including but not limited to: space, personnel, service-delivery and programming.
- Liaise with local doctors, hospitals, clinics, and other health and mental health treatment programs and agencies.
- Liaise with campus offices such as the Chaplain’s Office and Physical Education, Recreation and Wellness, and others, to promote collaboration, align resources and achieve shared goals/vision.
- Provide campus-wide leadership on issues related to student mental and physical health and wellness. Collaborate with students, staff, and faculty to cultivate and coordinate a comprehensive approach to student holistic well-being.
- Serve as primary point of contact for the Center regarding budget, operations and facilities. Effectively steward donor funds and assist with fundraising efforts.
- Participate in regular leadership team meetings for the division of Student Life.
- Participate on working groups and task forces related to holistic student health and well-being.
Requirements:
- First and foremost, we are seeking creative leaders with ideas and energy. A terminal degree is not required. Our minimum requirement is a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in health care administration, public health, health sciences, medical administration, or related fields; a graduate degree in a health-related field is highly preferred.
- An understanding of policy issues related to higher education and health care programs. A sense of how the above services or specialties might be made available to students in a holistic, trans-disciplinary manner.
- Understanding of college student mental health issues and a desire to work with students.
- A commitment to issues of diversity, equity and inclusion, particularly as they relate to student health and well-being.
- Highly collaborative spirit, in addition to leadership and team-building skills; the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of constituents
- Knowledge of budget/fiscal related processes.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to practice and always comply with the regulations of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974).
