Electrical Engineering Manager

Davis-Standard is a global leader in the design, development and distribution of extrusion and converting technology. Our systems encompass product lines to support manufacturing applications and customers in a wide variety of industries, including automotive, building & construction, consumer products, medical, and packaging. We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineering Manager to join our team in Pawcatuck, Connecticut. This position is responsible for managing all phases of extrusion system control design and development.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure designers / engineers produce economical designs using established standards to contract specifications. Drives standardization to meet SURPASS goals and corporate KPI.
• Provide technical support to ensure optimum system integration both DS internal groups and third-party suppliers. Manage integration team meetings coordinating mechanical, electrical engineering, assembly and test phases.
• Support sales engineers with special quote requests and customer presentations of Controls capabilities.
• Attend quote and order reviews as required. Ensures material and engineering estimates are accurate.
• Responsible for the development and coaching of employees.
  • Sets goals and objectives to insure optimum efficiency and career development.
  • Monitors performance and provides coaching and counseling as required.
  • Conducts annual performance reviews.
  • Develops performance improvement plans as required.
• Maintain controls cost book on annual basis.
• Assign projects and manage design schedule as projects progress. Alerts the Director of Extrusion Controls and / or manufacturing when problems arise in production schedules and customer requirements. Ensures changes are communicated in a timely manner.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with all operations and commercial departments.
• 5 years of experience in extrusion systems controls engineering.
• 5 years of experience in design and troubleshooting of extrusion equipment.
• Understanding of NFPA-79 and UL508A standards.
• Demonstrated ability to manage engineering schedules to meet delivery requirements.
• 3 years of management experience demonstrating a proficiency in leadership preferred.
• Knowledge of product lines supported by Extrusion Systems preferred.
