What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Analyst II position at Dawn Foods?
*Hybrid Work Environment*
Under supervision from the Tax Manager, prepares sales & use tax returns and other related filings for Dawn to comply with applicable federal, state and local tax laws. Communicates internally with other Dawn departments and externally with customers, venders and government agents on issues of tax compliance and processes.
FUNDAMENTALS OF THE POSITION
- Prepares state and local sales and use tax returns, supporting schedules and documentation.
- Provides support of documentation for state sales and use tax audits.
- Reconciles various tax accounts within the general ledger.
- Coordinates the tax exemption certificate process within the company.
- Coordinates the taxability of products within the sales tax software that connects with SAP.
- Assists in the preparation of state and local apportionment, supporting schedules and documentation.
- Prepares annual reports, business licenses, government surveys, and miscellaneous tax returns.
- Demonstrates the ability to assist in planning and preparing for, and executing, comprehensive projects from beginning to end.
- Demonstrates the ability to research tax questions.
- Demonstrates the ability to use SAP on a daily basis.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Demonstrates the “Dawn Values” of Team Dawn and supports the Circle of Excellence.
Qualifications:
Degree: Bachelor’s Degree
Subjects: Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field
Specialist Areas of Experience Preferred or Equivalent
- Advance certification a plus – CPA.
- A minimum of 2 years of related work experience with direct experience in public accounting or Tax or Finance Department in industry.
- Good working knowledge of tax and accounting principles and procedures
- Ability to research complex tax issues, efficiently navigating internet tax research services, sales and use tax software
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and knowledge of SAP and SharePoint
- Positive attitude and strong teaming skills, both as a team leader and as a team member
- Strong oral and written communication skills, time management skills, and organization skills
- Ability to provide strong attention to detail and accuracy of work
- Good multi-tasking ability
- Ability to work within required time frames or due dates
- Ability to work independently without immediate supervision
- Occasional travel may be required
Work Environment
- Work in a normal office environment with normal lighting and ventilation and limited exposure to noise, dust, and the like.
- Occasional travel may be required to Dawn manufacturing plants and Dawn distribution centers resulting in possible exposure to noise and hazardous conditions.
