JOB TITLE: Accountant
HOURS: 24-40 per week
DEPARTMENT: Finance
JOB SUMMARY:
Under administrative guidance of the Accounts Payable, Payroll Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in the preparation, review and posting of monthly G/L entries. Handles all cash transactions, including wires and ACH batches as approved by AP/PR Manager and CFO. Maintains the hospital checkbook and reconciles bank reconciliation. Assists with accounts payable entry, matching invoices to PO’s, bringing discrepancies to the AP Coordinator.
This position is also responsible for the posting and maintenance of all hospital statistics and will be back-up for the Philanthropy reporting process including processing payments and bank reconciliations.
CASH MANAGEMENT:
- Review and reconcile accounts receivable day end reports
- Responds to correspondence, internal and external
- Maintains 401K processing weekly and year end
- Maintains Hospital Checkbook
- Processes all monetary transfers, wires, and ACH batches to and from 3 banks
- Maintains Miscellaneous Cash Coding
GENERAL LEDGER:
- Assist with preparation, review and posting of monthly G/L entries
- Maintenance of hospital statistics
- Bank account reconciliations and entries
- Assist with review and reconciliation of G/L account balances and reports
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT:
- Assist Finance staff with various required filings
- Assist with AP invoice entry
OTHER:
- Special Accounting projects as required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Able to utilize computer for word processing and computer spreadsheet software, must have data entry skills on main frame terminals and PC software
- Perform work that is routine and have good attention to detail and the ability to analyze data and detect errors is required.
- Ability to properly and consistently apply accounting policies as related to A/P preparation.
- Exposure to computer-based accounts payable expense distribution requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, mainframe system entry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma is required, Associates Degree in Accounting preferred.
Experience: Experience with accounts payable processing and general accounting tasks required.
