SOC is hiring full-time Lieutenants to support our Las Vegas/Mercury Nevada location.

As part of the Integrated Security Team, Lieutenants will function as the NNSS Shift Supervisor responsible for all Protective Force tactical responses and day-to-day operations. This position is accountable for all aspects of PF personnel management within his/her assigned area, including, but not limited to, training, counseling, gathering the required information for investigations of incidents, and assisting with the security and safety management for emergency incidents at NNSS.

The Work You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manages the day-to-day activities, responsibilities, projects, and tasks of the SPO BRS personnel to include evaluating performance. This position is accountable for all aspects of SPO BRS personnel management including, but not limited to: training, counseling, gathering the required information for investigations of incidents.
  • Performs personnel and safety equipment checks, prepares SITREP, Investigation Reports, and makes notifications of reportable offenses or incidents. Ensures posts are manned through the implementation of a work schedule.
  • Provides daily operational support to the Protective Force Captain, participating and assisting in the management of the daily business and department operations. Provides administrative oversight by reviewing and verifying reports, logs, and forms for accuracy.
  • Provides overall Command & Control of security forces at geographically dispersed locations. Serves as Zone Commander during security emergencies and participates in FOF exercises. Interprets policies and regulations and instructs subordinates.
  • Serves as Incident Commander during security emergencies, evaluates SPOs, and ensures station orders are current. Deploys personnel during responses and execution of contingency plans.
  • Conducts investigations on security or personnel issues. Assists with the security and safety management for emergency incidents at NNSS.

What You Need to Bring to the Table:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Successful participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP), SOC NNSS Basic Supervisor certification, Basic Security Police Officer Training.
  • Valid US Driver’s License and be able to obtain a Nevada Driver’s License
  • DOE “Q” clearance authorization
  • Great attitude and team player
  • Successful completion of the background screening process

Desired

  • A minimum of four (4) years of protective force or similar law enforcement/military experience is preferred.

The Big Picture – Top Skills You Should Possess:

  • Knowledge of all NNSS site security procedures and policies to include extensive knowledge of the Security Incident Response Plan (SIRP) and Rules of Engagement (ROE).
  • Knowledge of Federal and State Laws and Regulations, Department of Energy (DOE) Orders, Manuals, Guides, and Standards, NNSS/NNSA and SOC policies, procedures, and orders as they relate to Protective Force services, Classified Matter, and Operations Security.
  • Supervisory skills to include planning, organizing, scheduling, team building, problem solving, conflict resolution, and directing activities of section employees, conducting performance appraisals and inquiries that address employee performance.
  • Meet 10 CFR 1046 Basic Readiness security police officer requirements, to include: Mental alertness and reliable judgment. Intermediate-level computer skills that include all the Microsoft Office Suite of software.
  • Must complete and maintain certification as a Basic Readiness Standard SPO (TRF-100, annual, semi-annual and quarterly recertification at the 70% requirement level). Other qualifications and certifications may also include Basic Instructor Training.
