Description:
- Prepare and deliver course work to students on topics such as acting techniques, fundamentals of dance. Explain and demonstrate artistic techniques.
- Prepare students for performances, exams, and assessments.
- Conduct auditions, organize performance groups, and direct rehearsals.
- Help direct at least 2 major school productions per school year.
- Prepare course materials such as syllabi, lesson plans, homework assignments, and handouts. Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
- Evaluate and grade student class work, performances, projects, assignments, and papers.
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
- Plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations.
- Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks and performance pieces.
- Collaborate with co-workers to address teaching, production, and research issues.
- Participate in school and community events. Keep students informed of community events such as plays and concerts.
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre or related field
- Florida Educator Certification or Statement of Eligibility
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading skills, and speaking.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism.
- Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.
- Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality.
- At least 1 year experience teaching dance or musical theatre in a classroom environment.
- Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
