Position summary:
The Medication Aide/Medication Technician is responsible for supervision of self-administered medication to Assisted Living & Memory Care residents, medication administration to those residents who need assistance with medication as well as following the guidelines and regulations as out lined by the State of Texas for Assisted Living Facilities. This position reports to the Community Nurse.

This position reports to the Community Nurse.
Essential functions:
- Responsible for supervision of self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and DaySpring Senior Living guidelines as directed by the LPN/LVN and/or the Assisted Living Director.
- Reports any change in resident’s health and provides proper documentation to the LVN and/or Assisted Living Director.
- Passes the Right Medication to the Right Resident, at the Right Time, in the Right Dosage, by the Right Route of Administration and per the Resident’s Medication Administration Record/as ordered by the resident’s physician.
- Responds quickly to all emergencies.
- Maintains close communication with all departments and staff members.
- Attends educational meetings for residents and staff as requested by supervisor.
- Meets training and continuing education requirements as outlined by the State of Texas and as outlined in community policy.
- Understands role in the Safety & Disaster Plan.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident's and prospective resident's information.
Non-essential functions:
- Attends all required training, in-services, and staff meetings.
- Completes all assigned online training as assigned.
- Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
- Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, family members and co-workers.
- Assists with medication re-orders and refills as needed.
- Communicates with family members and with residents regarding issues related to medication.
- Coordinates emergency response and communicates to the Community Nurse when a resident is sent to the hospital or returns from the hospital after hours and on weekends.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of the community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills/Educational requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
- One to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
