Facility: Dayton Children's - Main Campus Department: Neurology - EEG Schedule: Full time Hours: 40 Job Details: The Lead EMU Technician works collaboratively with the Ambulatory Administrator and the Medical Director to plan, develop, implement and direct the daily clinical and business operations of the Neurology Department. This is a hands-on-leadership role involving regular interaction with staff and facilitating several detailed activities such as creating the monthly schedule and ensuring staff ongoing competencies. Participates in hiring/annual performance evaluation of the technologists and updates/maintains END (electroneurodiagnostic) policies/procedures. Completes annual performance reviews for all direct reports. Under the guidance of the Ambulatory Administrator takes corrective or disciplinary action as needed and resolves personnel issues, referring unusual or recurrent problems directly to the Ambulatory Administrator. The lead organizes the daily workflow and coordinates the clinical staff to ensure operation efficiency, technical quality and service excellence. The lead is responsible for orienting and/or training new staff, organizing daily workflow, overseeing effective operation and timely maintenance/repair of equipment, initiating customer service and performance improvement projects, and serving as a resource to physicians, staff, patients, visitors and the community. In coordination with the Ambulatory Administrator, s/he facilitates staff development and educational programs, and all performance and quality improvement activities/programs, TJC requirements and other regulatory requirements for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit/EMU. The lead is knowledgeable of and can evaluate the level of performance of routine and complex Neurodiagnostic procedures. As the leader, the incumbent sets priorities in conjunction with the Ambulatory Administrator and follows through on assignments in an independent manner. The incumbent promotes and models the mission/values of DCH, serves as a resource to physicians, staff, visitors and the community. Department Specific Job Details: This position is for the Team Lead of the Neurology Lab. Under general supervision of the Neurologists and Manager putting patient safety first provides electroneurodiagnostic testing (EEG, AEEG, EMU, and EVP, NCV) performing tests for patients newborn-22 years of age. Tests are performed in the lab or at the patient's bedside. Interacts with other techs to ensure teamwork and provide support to other department personnel of 5 EEG Techs to maintain consistent and quality testing/customer service. oversees daily operations, orders supplies, linen, troubleshoot and equipment issues with our BioMed and IT techs. Ensures all procedures are completed in a timely manner. Mentors staff techs in growing their skills and knowledge and works toward building and maintaining a positive work environment. Works with the Neurology clinic staff and schedulers to arrange testing for patients. Supports the EMU unit as needed. Required: Competent in EEG and EVP's, 2-3 years as an EEG Tech, REEGT Certification through ABRET or other National registry, Sound computer skills, strong keyboarding skills, PREFERRED: Graduate of END program, 3-5 years experience, REEGT and/or REPT or CLTM Education Requirements: High School (Required) Certification/License Requirements: Must be Board Eligible but does not need to have: REEGT Certification Radiological Electroencephalography Technologist - ABRET or other National registry At Dayton Children's we believe that each moment counts with our patients, families and with each other.
