Position: Preschool Academic Coordinator
Reports To: Director of Preschool

SUMMARY
The Preschool Academic Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Preschool to ensure all staff, students, and classrooms are in compliance with Ohio licensing regulations and meet the highest standards for Ohio’s Step Up to Quality preschool rating. The Coordinator will support all DPS buildings with preschool classrooms. This is a 260 - day twenty-six pay Administrator contract with paid vacation, holidays, and personal days.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and support licensure activities for all preschool classrooms to ensure compliance with Ohio Early Childhood licensure standards as it pertains to staff qualifications, students’ files, and classroom operations
- Support the implementation of the district prescribed curriculum and instructional practices
- Train staff regarding Step Up to Quality and licensing requirements
- Provide technical assistance training and coaching to staff to support meeting the highest standards of the Step Up to Quality rating system
- Maintain accurate documentation of records for all preschool staff and students
- Maintain OCLQS and OCCRRA accounts for all preschool locations
- Monitor enrollment of children and required student documentation
- Assist teachers in the development of implementation of transition plans for student
- Complete all tasks promptly and accurately meeting due dates and compliance timelines
- Ensure confidentiality practices are maintained throughout the program
- Meet regularly as a member of the Preschool Team to define building and district level professional development resource needs
- Consult with building principals to identify and meet individual teacher needs for additional support and improvement. Make recommendations to principals regarding remedies for deficiencies
- Coordinate professional development training and support with third-party providers when necessary. Schedule the sessions/visits and keep in contact with both district and outside personnel about topics and progress
- Analyze district data and share recommendations at the district, building, and teacher level
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Valid Ohio teaching license and certified to teach preschool
- Valid Ohio Administrator’s license
- A Minimum of five years teaching experience in the content area. Urban classroom/administrative experience preferred
- Documented experience in a building leadership/supervisory role
- Knowledge and experience with Ohio’s revised code, Ohio’s Step Up to Quality rating system, and the Ohio Childcare Licensing Quality System (OCLQS)
- Must pass a criminal background check and be free from communicable diseases
- Knowledge of the district’s curriculum, state standards and state assessment systems
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with a large group of employees in multiple locations
- Valid driver’s license and access to personal insured vehicle
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
- Occasionally lift and/or move lightweight items up to 40 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work will be split between office and school settings
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
- Work may be subject to frequent interruptions
- Some assignments are subject to completion within strict timelines
- Daily travel for meetings, professional development activities, and work assignments
