Job Description:
Davis Behavioral Health, Inc. is seeking part-time instructors to teach the Circle of Security Parenting Program (COSP) to parents/caregivers on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings, depending on the program that is being offered. COSP classes will be held throughout Davis County in English and Spanish. This position is grant funded through the Davis County Communities That Care (CTC) coalitions.
The Circle of Security Parenting™ program is based on decades of
research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported
and strengthened. Instructor’s help parents/caregivers reflect upon
children’s attachment needs in order to promote secure attachment with

Instructors are hired on a yearly basis. Employment from year to year will be contingent on employee performance and program needs.
Primary Job Duties
- Instructors work with parents/caregivers to help them to:
- Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs.
- Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions.
- Enhance the development of their child's self-esteem.
- Honor the innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure. • Each class runs for 1 ½ hours once per week for 8-weeks, usually between 6:00 – 8:00 pm, with a meal provided prior to the start of the class.
- Instructors are asked to report to work ½ hour before parents/caregivers arrive.
Compensation
The Circle of Security Program Instructors are compensated with the following rates:
- $20.00 per hour

Experience and Skills:
Position-specific Mandatory Training
The COSP training will take about 25-35 hours to complete and will
consist of self-directed learning and 5 live sessions, scheduled over
approximately 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the training selected.
Must be available for one of the online trainings:
- English
- July 13 – July 27, 2023: Mondays and Thursdays from 4 – 6 pm MST
- August 10 – August 24, 2023: Mondays and Thursdays from 6 – 8 pm MST
- August 11 – August 25, 2023: Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 am – 1 pm MST
- Spanish
- October 23 – October 27, 2023: Monday – Friday from 7:30 – 9:30 am MST
Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of training and certification by the program trainers. Candidates who are unable to attend the required training will not be eligible to be hired.
There may be some instructors that are trained but will serve as
substitutes or reserves depending on the number of parents recruited
to participate and the number of classes held.
COSP manuals will be the property of Davis Behavioral Health and lent
to the instructors for their use while teaching the course.
Experience Required
- Preference will be given to applicants who have previous experience with teaching, health promotion, or a background in a mental-health related field.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Skills/Abilities
- An ability to accept and work with diverse groups of youth and parents.
- Strong presentation and group facilitation skills.
- Effective communicator and collaborator.
- Experience working with adult or youth groups.
- Enthusiasm for family skill-building programs.
- The ability to be flexible with individuals and activities.
- A willingness to prepare before the session in order to lead effectively.
- A willingness to facilitate the program as designed and outlined in the manual.
- A commitment to facilitate assigned groups.
- A willingness to fill out any reporting requested.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.
The selected candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening. DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore, making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample. Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.
Davis Behavioral Health works with Federal grants and must comply with the Federal drug laws, including no use of medical marijuana.
