What are the responsibilities and job description for the Moveable Bridge Specialist position at DBI SERVICES LLC?
The Moveable Bridge Specialist will report to the Project Manager on a daily basis to fulfill work orders for the Belle Chasse Vertical Lift Bridge, alternating between support of operations for bridge, tunnel, and roadway needs to perform general maintenance.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Operates a vertical lift bridge
- Maintains bridge logs
- Generates all required reports in an accurate and organized manner
- Communicates via two way radio and marine radios
- Operates hand tools and other equipment such as pressure washers, generators, etc.
- Performs minor landscaping duties to include mowing with the use of a Z-Turn mower, and weed eating
- Sprays herbicide to control weed growth
- Removes litter and debris from roadside, bridge, and interior of tunnel
- Removes graffiti
- Performs roadway and lane closures to restrict access and establish safe zones
- Conducts roadway accident response and obstruction/debris clean-up
- Occasionally/rarely performs: Cleaning and painting steel, repairing joints, repairing concrete spall
- Exercises professionalism in all communications and interactions with internal and external clients
- Drives company vehicles
- Uses all equipment, tools, and materials safely
- Performs other duties as assigned
- 21 years of age
- Valid Driver's License
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation to and from work reporting location
- Ability to lift fifty to sixty pounds (50 - 60 lbs.)
- Experience in bridge maintenance or construction
- Must be available to respond to emergencies after hours
- Work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed
- Work in a variety of environments to including indoors in a bridge house and outdoors on the bridge deck and bridge towers in a variety of weather patterns
- Ability to work on highways and right-of-ways, with commuter traffic passing by at a high rate of speed
- Ability to pass a drug screen, motor vehicle screen, and background screen
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience in movable bridge operations strongly preferred
- Experience with maintaining and repairing pumps
- Experience working on roadways
- Electrician’s License or experience in electromechanical troubleshooting and repairs
- Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Certification
