Position Summary: The DCCC is hiring a Policy Director for the 2024 election cycle. This person will track activity in Congressional committees, on the floor and from the White House to keep campaigns and DCCC staff informed and prepared to strategically message policy developments. This role works in collaboration with Communications and Research Departments to ensure that candidates and campaigns are appropriately prepared to message around any policy issues. The Policy Director will also serve as a point of contact for key partners and allies.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Following and tracking all legislative activity in Congress, including relevant floor votes, committee hearings, markups and votes, and new legislation
  • Liaison with key partners and allies on policy topics, both on and off the Hill
  • Fact checking finance, communications, and research materials for legislative accuracy
  • Helping campaigns understand and develop policy initiatives on a wide variety of issues
  • Helping campaigns engage with constituency groups and ideological organizations
  • Preparing congressional candidates for debates
  • Regularly updating the Chair and senior staff on the work of the policy department

Requirements

  • At least 4-6 years of experience on the Hill, policy work on campaigns, or a combination thereof; 
  • Strong writing and editing skills; 
  • Legislative research experience required; 
  • Draws from team members’ strengths, empowering them to maximize their talents; contributes where needed to achieve and exceed goals; mentors and guides colleagues with regular feedback and recognition; clearly lays out vision and expectations to the team
  • Proactively fosters an inclusive atmosphere and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, digital strategy, research support and management consulting.
