Dean Dorton, one of the largest and most acclaimed certified public accounting and business advisory firms in the Ohio Valley, Southeast and Midwest, has an opportunity for a Transaction Advisory Services Senior Analyst to join our team.

Position Description

 

As a Senior Analyst in the Transaction Advisory Services consulting practice, you will work closely with other team members in providing financial due diligence for lower middle-market US and international businesses. The Transaction Advisory Services practice offers our clients assistance with M&A activities, buy-side due diligence, sell-side due diligence, and working capital assistance.

 

You'll be focused on analyzing financial data and identifying key trends behind the performance of a business, discussing business performance and forecast assumptions with team management, and helping to write reports that set out our findings and recommendations around the key financial and business issues in a transaction.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Perform (as part of a team) financial due diligence for clients who are acquiring businesses 
  • Analyzing quality of earnings and non-recurring items
  • Understanding key business drivers that impact reported profitability
  • Prepare detailed financial analysis to help clients evaluate their acquisition decisions and financing requirements 
  • Analyze financial and operational results of businesses to be acquired or sold through reviewing accounting records and conducting interviews with management.
  • Participates in client meetings and site visits while interacting with top-level management to obtain pertinent information for financial analysis 
  • Interacts with the other functional areas of the practice including tax, audit and other consulting practices
  • Analyzing historical financial and operating results of target companies to explain business trends and identify risks
  • Evaluating the quality of historical earnings and net assets
  • Understanding critical assets and liabilities included in balance sheets of target companies
  • Analyzing the working capital requirements of the target companies
  • Challenging assumptions related to future financial projections
  • Interacting extensively with personnel of the target companies and the client
  • Preparing due diligence reports outlining analyses and findings
  • Develop professional network and relationships with firm, client and target professionals

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor or Master of Science/Business Administration in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 1 year related public accounting or finance work experience
  • CPA or CPA eligible
  • 3-5 years of experience working in professional services
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and strong personal integrity
  • Ability to master new tasks quickly
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and common database systems 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage rapidly changing assignments in a team environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to obtaining outstanding results
  • Flexibility to travel, as needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills that help represent diverse communities
  • Experience working with diverse teams
