Job Summary
The set-up technician preforms initial assembly steps of compressor packages by mounting the compressor and engine combination to skids by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities and Duties
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following as well as other duties that are assigned:
- Studies blueprints and other specifications to determine proper positioning of compressors and engines on skids
- Verifies such requirements as dimensions and squareness
- Preforms leveling of the skids
- Lays out location of the sub-base and welds sub-base to the skid
- Pours concrete on skid for compressor mounting
- Uses crane to mount compressor
- Builds dikes to hold epoxy material, forming a base for the compressor footing
- Heat shrinks and installs compressor coupling
- Cleans, inspects and installs pressure vessels on the skip to prepare for piping
- Adds dimensional details to blueprints or prepares dimensional drawings to be followed by other workers
- Any other duties assigned by crew leader
Qualifications and Skills
- One year certificate from college or technical school or related experience and training
- 2-5 year’s experience working in an industrial environment
- Experience assembling machinery or millwright is preferred
- Ability to read blue prints and use simple math skills
- Must be able to work as a team
- This position requires an individual to be highly mechanically inclined
- Ability to pass a drug test
