The Mobile Fleet Manager in the Chattanooga area will oversee and manage fleet operations for one primary customer with two locations in Dalton, GA, and Greenfield, IN. The role requires hands-on experience in fleet management and previous mechanical experience. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, travel-heavy environment and has strong organizational and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Oversee and manage fleet operations across both Dalton, GA and Greenfield, IN.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure all vehicles are in optimal working condition.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients, ensuring their fleet needs are met promptly and efficiently.
- Minimize downtime by scheduling repairs and maintenance during off-peak hours and coordinating with mechanics and service providers.
- Travel frequently between Dalton and Greenfield, with overnight stays during the week as required by business needs.
- Monitor fleet performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement cost-effective solutions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies across all operations.
- Provide guidance and support to mechanics, helping them troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and perform timely repairs.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure quality service and competitive pricing for parts and repairs
Travel Requirement:
Extensive travel required, primarily between Dalton, GA, and Greenfield, IN. This role involves the most travel of the two positions, with frequent week-long travel between the two locations. Travel typically includes overnight stays during the week, but the manager will be home on weekends unless there is a surge in business needs.
Qualifications
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE:
- At least 5 years of fleet management experience , with a strong foundation in mechanics.
- Proven experience managing teams or operations across multiple locations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Ability to travel extensively and manage a travel-heavy schedule.
- Knowledge of industry standards and safety regulations, with a focus on compliance and operational excellence.
- Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with team members, vendors, and management.
- A valid driver's license is required; additional certifications in fleet management are a plus.
