IT Applications Developer

Dechert, LLP is a global specialist law firm focused on sectors with the greatest complexities, legal intricacies and highest regulatory demands. As part of delivering these services to our clients and supporting our staff we have an extensive application portfolio. This position will work primarily with the ServiceNow application using its development tools and Javascript to develop new workflows and functionality to improve company efficiencies. This person will look for ways to help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively by identifying and developing solutions within our application portfolio. In addition, this position will work with all of our applications ensuring that they are properly managed throughout the software lifecycle as well as continue to provide value to the firm. Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Design solutions utilizing 3rd party configuration and development tools, specifically ServiceNow, to help the organization operate more efficiently and effectively.
• Utilize JavaScript, or other scripting languages, to extend ServiceNow’s functionality.
• Develop new workflows within systems based on requirements from users and functional specifications.
• Devise ways to make existing systems meet new needs.
• Oversee installing and configuring a variety of applications and systems.
• Test to ensure changes are operating as expected and giving the desired results.
• Collaborate with other IT teams and developers in delivering new systems and upgrades or enhance existing applications.
• Maintain existing application features and functionalities and help identify and resolve issues and/or bugs.
• Work with users to determine functional requirements of new features or changes.
• Understand integrated enterprise solutions that are comprised of both commercial software packages and custom applications.
• Anticipate, identify, and articulate problem areas and work with others to devise solutions.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

• Expert in Javascript, or other scripting language.
• Experience using 3rd party configuration tools to develop applications within systems such as, ServiceNow.
• Experience with a software development methodology such as Agile.
• Experience with relational databases such as MSSQL.
• Experience with REST/SOAP based services.
• Practical familiarity with XML, XSL, XPath.
• Experience with source code control tools such as Git.
• Experience integrating commercial software with both custom solutions and other third party products.
• Practical experience providing tier three application support, troubleshooting and resolving issues in a timely, customer focused manner.
• Work with a high degree of independence on projects, contributing to both design and implementation.
• Communicate effectively with non-technical internal clients.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field. Or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 5 years of system development work experience is required.
