DESCRIPTION:
Decypher is seeking a Laboratory Manager for the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. (FOPR 22-99)
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee all aspects of the laboratory operations
- Senior on-site representative responsible for the performance, training, problem solving and records maintenance of all contractor laboratory personnel
- Empowered to handle personnel issues that arise
- Schedule personnel in various shifts to ensure workload is completed daily and in accordance with the established turn around times (TAT)s
- Ensure absolute accuracy in the processing and recording of specimens and results
- Upon discovery of processing/testing errors, responsible for answering all Incident Reports involving contract personnel to include complaints and corrective actions taken to prevent future errors.
- Review and assist with departmental non-conforming events.
- Take all steps necessary to ensure the laboratory procedures, equipment and contractor work force are prepared for inspections.
- Assist in the management and performance of the development, evaluation, and application of new, modified, and improved procedures, techniques, and equipment.
- Attend management meetings, work closely with Quality Assurance (QA) department and provide QA improvement metrics at QA meetings.
- Identify, train, and schedule personnel necessary to accomplish tasks on base closures (e.g., inclement weather).
- Responsible for evaluating competency assessment documentation of personnel in laboratory area of responsibilities.
- Assist in editing and managing departmental standard operating procedures, forms and templates.
- Ensure personnel qualification documentation is current and complete
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years of experience performing similar efforts
- Five (5) years of experience in the management of personnel and operations
- Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist certification by ASCP, AMT or other comparable registry board
- US Citizen
HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical laboratory experience and strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills
