What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Director position at Dedham Community House?
- Responsible for all aspects of summer camp, pool, seasonal recreational and educational program/event planning, development, administration, execution, and evaluation
- Monitor community needs on an ongoing basis with an awareness of the changing context within which programs and services are provided, including keeping abreast of other program offerings in the area
- Continually add or develop new programs, especially in areas underserved in current DCH offerings and/or throughout the town/local communities
- Hire, train, manage, and evaluate program staff and contracted instructors.
- Manage the program registration process including online registrations and waitlists, keep class lists up to date, create program rosters, and update attendance regularly
- Monitor programs to ensure consistency with criteria established by the mission and goals of the organization, including regularly obtaining quantitative and qualitative feedback about programs and service delivery
- Maintain excellent communication with parents/guardians, instructors, and participants about class dates, cancellations, make-ups, open houses, etc.
- Ensure that all programs comply with all applicable regulations of licensing and governing entities
- Develop and maintain relationships/collaborations with other local organizations/agencies
- Lead planning and coordination of special events such as the Fall Fair and movie nights
- Work with the Executive Director to evaluate financial results against the Program budget.
- Prepare all camp forms including registration materials and parent and staff handbooks
- Together with the camp leadership, develop and manage the camp curriculum including daily and weekly activity programming and field trip planning
- Working with the camp leadership, staff, and schedule to maintain all appropriate camper/counselor ratios for all groups and extended day
- With the Aquatics Director, develop pool programming content and schedule.
- Assist with break coverage at the Preschool and other duties as needed
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- B.A. required, recreation management degree or related field preferred
- Must be 21 years of age or older and meet at least one of the following:
- Successful completion of a course in camping administration such as those offered by national professional camping associations, national agencies, or their equivalent, or (2) At least two seasons of previous experience working as part of the administrative staff of a recreational camp for children.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
