PURPOSE
The Teller I performs a variety of customer service and related duties to provide service to Bank customers in conformance with established Bank policies, strategies, and procedures. Receives and pays out money, keeps records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions, and communicates with customers in person and over the phone while answering questions related to their existing accounts and/or offering other products and services when deemed appropriate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet customers of the Bank cordially and professionally and provide efficient, effective, and courteous customer service in person and via the telephone in addition to processing customer transactions and balancing and reconciling daily cash settlements while remaining in compliance with established Bank policies and procedures, federal and state laws.
- Process customer deposits, withdrawals, and payment transactions; complies with all Bank Secrecy requirements.
- Accept and process loan payments.
- Understand, explain, and cross-sell, as part of the Bank’s referral program, the Bank’s products, and services of benefit to the customer such as checking and savings accounts, certificate of deposit accounts, loan products, credit cards, debit cards, and digital services.
- Balance all transactions and cash upon completion of assigned shift and resolve any discrepancies.
- Perform related customer service, clerical, and teller duties as assigned or requested.
- Participate in the consolidation of daily teller work and the balancing of the ATM.
- Maintain updated knowledge of Bank products and services.
- Participate in community activities representing Dedham Savings.
- Perform all duties by prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines. Ensure compliance with established security procedures as well as cash handling procedures.
- Adhere to audit and regulation policies and procedures and complete annual training on all required regulations, including Regulation CC, AML/BSA, and GLB/Privacy.
QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- 0-3 Years of experience
- The ability to provide high-quality customer service is extremely important.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including Saturdays. Must have basic business acumen and professionalism.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to new job locations and re-assignments as directed.
- 1 years related experience preferred.
- Ability to adhere to policies, procedures, and instructions of management.
- The ability to provide high-quality customer service is extremely important.
- General Math skills.
- Actively seeks information to understand customer needs.
- Detail orientated with the ability to function in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Displays a can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
- Cash handling experience preferred but not required.
- Strong computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Patience and willingness to help others in solving problems while maintaining a positive attitude.
