JOB SUMMARY: The Safety Managers' primary responsibility is to promote, support, and maintain the Safety Culture of Deer Park Roofing. They will work in a support capacity to the Safety Director to ensure proper safety paperwork is completed and on file, task deadlines are met, and support management on various safety projects. The person will have a high degree of influence on driving positive outcomes and ensuring team members are conducting work activities in a safe manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed below. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain and audit all safety documents, procedure books, forms, etc.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of a safety-first attitude within the organization.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets and annually audit for current dates/revisions.
  • Develops and distributes weekly safety meeting topics based on the Safety & Health Plan, Safety. Alerts, customer feedback, and any other safety or health information.
  • Monitor safety observation records to ensure adherence to requirements and report to leadership.
  • File and maintain safety records per their required retention and storage requirements.
  • Utilize computer software to control department documents.
  • Create, update, and write various reports and safety procedures.
  • Participate in incident investigations (i.e. communicate, respond, contain, gather evidence, generate a report, etc.).
  • Prepare for and participate in jobsite safety audits.
  • Participate in various safety meetings.
  • Order and track safety supplies/PPE as necessary.
  • Assist with Safety Orientation training for new employees.

This position requires the employee to communicate orally, use vision to see near and far, use depth perception and hear at a conversational level.

The employee must be able to climb a latter and walk on the roof surface.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly (67-100% time on job) be required to wear safety glasses, hard hat, work boots, and other company apparel or plan clothing. The employee will occasionally (11-33% time on job) be required to use fall protection and work in extreme hot or cold conditions. Employee will infrequently (1-10% time on job) be required to wear hearing protection or gloves.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: At least three years of experience in the safety field, preferred in construction or roofing.

Reasoning Development: Follow all company Health and Safety procedures.

Mathematical Development: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers and use geometry.

Language Development: Ability to read manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak using correct English.

Licensures and Certifications: Valid drivers license is required, OSHA 10 and 30 required and OSHA 510 is preferred.

Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
