CHOREOGRAPHER (Deerfield Family Theatre’s production of “Big Fish”)

Choreograph our full-scale family theatre production of “Big Fish!” Our choreographer will assist with casting the show and work with the director and other creative staff to bring the vision to life!
We are looking for:
Part Time (Seasonal)– flexible hours based on the rehearsal schedule and your availability. Evenings during the week and weekend mornings as scheduled.
Pay rate: $15.00 per hour.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Work collaboratively with the Director and designers to fulfill the vision/concept of the production
  • Work with Director/Music Director to integrate choreography into the production that is compatible with musical cues, costuming, sets and lighting.
  • Cast the production
  • Empower and motivate participants to perform on stage and off to the best of their capabilities
  • Set an example of professional behavior in rehearsal and in performance that teaches harmonious relationships and teamwork, centered on the purpose of creating a successful production
  • Always demonstrate professional behavior and respect for others
  • Assist Director, Music Director, and Stage manager in creating weekly schedule
  • Assist with flow of communication
  • Plan and attend all scheduled rehearsals
  • Attend all production meetings
  • Report all incidents and emergencies
  • Choreographers must often work with non-dancers, dancers with limited experience, as well as those who have had considerable training. This can mean extra rehearsal time, which must be planned for.
  • A choreographer may use team captains or assistants to work with individuals or groups within the ensemble, as a way of maximizing the amount of time available for rehearsal.
  • Once the show opens, the choreographer’s job is done.

Requirements:

  • Previous choreography experience required
  • Previous dance experience preferred
  • Must be an enthusiastic, collaborative team player
  • Must be patient and adaptable in order to work with both adults and youth
  • Applicant should be able to create choreography for both skilled dancers and beginners/”movers”

Job Type: Part-time
