What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Estimator position at Default Board?
Burrow Global is in search of a Senior Estimator to lead the capital project department's estimating competency for a petrochemical plant located on the east side of Houston. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate project estimates are developed using current cost data to support effective budgeting across all disciplines for a portfolio of capital projects being developed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed estimates for all project stages: Conceptual design, Detailed Design Development, and Construction and startup.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in estimate class definition and AACE practices.
- Lead the validation of estimates across all project phases.
- Utilize company benchmarks and factors for management reporting and project development.
- Enhance existing estimate templates and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Provide estimate development training to Project Managers as necessary for accuracy.
- Establish and manage a centralized cost estimating database and benchmarking process.
- Analyze historical data to identify cost variance trends and recommend improvements.
- Uphold and enhance the Estimating Framework at TPC.
- Drive continuous improvement and education within the capital project department's estimating competency.
- Maintain all Procedure, Standard, Policies, and Forms (PSPF) related to estimating competency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, with a minimum of ten (10) years of estimating experience supporting Engineering, Procurement, and Construction projects in petrochemical or refinery environment.
- Active TWIC Card
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in factored estimating techniques and detailed estimate preparation.
- Field experience is advantageous.
- Experience leading teams and presenting to Senior Management.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Understanding of contractual language and ability to review bids for accuracy.
